It is based on fuel pressure of 55-62 psi, it adds fuel based on how much air passed through the MAF sensor to keep the ratio correct. That is were you are getting your high fuel trims from. When the O2 sensors are seeing the excess oxygen in the exhaust, it is trying to add more fuel by leaving the injectors open longer. Jul 19, 2020 · A bad fuel injector can cause your 3.8L Buick (or Chevrolet, or Pontiac, or Oldsmobile) to idle rough, miss, and make the check engine light come on (if the vehicle is ODB II equipped, you could see misfire codes: P0300, P0301, P0302, P303, P0304, P0305, P0306). • Explanation #1: A Problem in the Fuel System. One of the most common causes of a sputtering engine is an issue with the vehicle’s fuel system—the filter, pump, and injectors. These three critical components work together to ensure fuel flows smoothly from the fuel tank to your engine’s fuel injectors, and then pumps into the engine evenly.

An injector is just a solenoid that opens and closes but the coil takes low voltage and make high voltage on the secondary side. Due to this, the easiest way to test it is get a bunch of fuses and unplug all the coils and crank the engine. If the fuse doesn't blow, plug them back in one at a time and crank the engine until it blows. Apr 22, 2012 · New to forum and really first problem with 5 y/o 5103. Effective pressure is what injector flow rate is ultimately based off of. When an engine is idling, there is a vacuum in the intake manifold. This vacuum pulls fuel out of the injectors, and increases the effective pressure across the injector to a pressure higher than the rail pressure itself.
  • E682 assemblyInjectors do not get a steady voltage, they are pulsed. I suspect you're barking up the wrong tree. Keep in mind that the 12 V from SBF-2 has to go through the Main Relay to get to the injectors. There's a number of fuses that power the ECM and if one is blown, it's possible the relay won't work.

Fuel to the fuel injectors is brought through a fuel rail which is connected to a fuel filter. Each injector has an electrical connector attached to it, which brings signals from ECU telling injectors when to inject gas. DPFI - Dual Point Fuel Injection - DPFI engines have 2 injectors in the throttle body, one main and one auxiliary.
